Sir william wyndham, 1st baronet (1633–1683), of orchard wyndham, somerset. The 5th baronet's mother was lady catherine seymour, a sister of the 7th duke of somerset, through whom he inherited petworth house in 1750. Provenance: accepted by hm treasury, 1956, in lieu of death duties on the estate of charles henry wyndham, 3rd lord leconfield, of petworth house, transferred to the national trust. Object Type: painting. Date: late 1670s. Dimensions: height: 125 cm (49.2 in); width: 100 cm (39.3 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Petworth House.
