Sir william wyndham, 1st baronet (1633–1683), of orchard wyndham, somerset. The 5th baronet's mother was lady catherine seymour, a sister of the 7th duke of somerset, through whom he inherited petworth house in 1750. Provenance: accepted by hm treasury, 1956, in lieu of death duties on the estate of charles henry wyndham, 3rd lord leconfield, of petworth house, transferred to the national trust.
