a starboard broadside view of the ‘guernsey’ before a light breeze under fore course and fore and main topsails. Another ship is close-hauled on the port tack in the right background. This is an unsigned pen and brown ink drawing by the younger. It is inscribed ‘gaerensae. ’
the first ‘guernsey’ was built in 1654, made a fireship in 1688, reconverted 1689 and condemned in 1693. The second ‘guernsey’ was built in 1696 and rebuilt in 1717.
