Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1941-04-06) letter no. 8 (1941-04-14) next letter (1941-04-20) envelope: front back text [i have room] duty today, so i have to tidy the room and then sign out. Karl and i have been talking and thinking a lot about home, especially recently. You already have the bed linen, which is great. And when the painter comes, i won't be able to find my way around at all when i go on vacation! i'm happy that schmarzl [???] and lehner have to report for duty. Up until now they've had no idea what order and discipline are, and well, they'll be taught that. " now i've finally managed to get a picture of myself. The photo was taken on heroes' remembrance day on our parade ground. I hope this will make you happy, it's the first photo from [sic!] defender of the fatherland [sic!]. Unfortunately only one person here had a camera and he was all over the pictures. Next to me was an instructor and our karl. Whenever karl gets a photo, he sends one home too. Now i'm sending you my warmest easter greetings again. Best wishes and kisses. Your hansl. Date: 14 April 1941.
