One of the fragments of the painting of the mogilev synagogue. The tree of knowledge with a nest to which a stork flies, carrying a snake. Near the tree is an architectural structure in the form of a tower on wheels: an image of the biblical ark of the covenant on its way to jerusalem. The storks on the tree of knowledge symbolize the true righteous who are able to defeat snakes, that is, the satanic forces. The symbol is based on the consonance of the words "hasid" ("righteous") and "hasid" ("stork") in hebrew (drawing by el lissitzky).
