Commissioned by orla lehmann, this painting portrays ernst schimmelmann (at the right), his wife charlotte, and the poet jens baggesen. It was supposed to depict the time around 1806: baggesen stands with his benefactors at the emilie fountain on strandvejen below the country house sølyst near klampenborg. The emilie fountain was created by nicolai abildgaard as a classic monument to schimmelmann's first wife who died in 1780. Object Type: painting. Date: circa 1862. Medium: oil on canvas.
