The famous lobster, designed in 1909 by änne koken as a trademark for the (then) "delicatessen wholesaler and food factory" heinrich wilhelm appel (hwa) and their mayonnaise, shown here as a half-page and two-color illustration in the special edition of the iillustrirten zeitung no. 3538, "136th volume" with the title cultural images from germany iv: hanover and border areas, which was created in cooperation with the hannoverscher anzeiger and the hanover tourist association. The lobster depicted on the bottle, also used as an advertising stamp, not only brought the product closer to a wealthy customer base, but also made the designer instantly known nationwide.
