a recruitment scene to join the army. Five characters are represented. On the left, two men with dog heads are the recruiters, one takes the measurements of an applicant, while the other observes. On the right, three young people with sheep's heads are waiting to also be examined. They are dressed like a peasant: wide-brimmed hat, vest with two rows of buttons. Extract from métamorphoses du jour (editions gustave havard libraire, paris, 1854): "our three conscripts had the desired height and constitution.
