In the foreground to right, below the stairs of his dwelling, the saint barefoot and wearing dark habits with a cord at the waist, lies on the stone floor, under a tree with a cross stuck into the trunk, his head is propped up on board and cushion, he holds a cross in his right hand, to right, his hat on a wooden box or trunk, his staff leaning against the side, a roughly made wooden cross, and to left a pig by a doorway, on the staircase above, a monk leans on a wall and looks at the saint, at the top, light enters from an open doorway providing a view of a landscape, an owl is perched on a beam; the room is barely furnished and has a broom and several vessels; after granet lithograph on buff chine collé.
