Studies of ships, including destroyers, a minesweeping trawler, the submarine 'm1', an elco launch and seaplanes attacking motor boats the top left image is a destroyer of the admiralty 'l 'or admiralty 'm' type. The top centre image is the large submarine 'm1' (1917), which was completed with a 12-inch deck gun. The top right sketch is a minesweeping trawler with side gallows. The centre sketch may be wyllie's interpretation of the bombing of british coastal motor boats by german seaplanes off terschelling in the north sea on 11 august 1918. Three cmbs were sunk; cmb 40, cmb 42 and cmb 47. On either side of the cmb sketch are bow and stern views of an elco-built motor launch of 1915. At the bottom on the left a fast launch pr motor boat speeds away from a bomb or shell splash; to bottom right is a profile view of a merchant vessel with an island bridge and an indistinct word or name in wyllie's hand, possibly '[h]ash' , under it.
