Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-04-12) letter no. 241 (1944-04-18) next letter (1944-04-24) blankenburg, april 18, 1944. My beloved mum! i just want to answer your first letter, because the second one came yesterday. My mum, how can i thank you for all the stamps? i was probably surprised when i saw them. But i keep thinking about how much you miss all these things. You have so little yourself, please don’t send me so much. Thank you again! you poor thing, you didn’t have a great holiday. You were on duty, and i was thinking of you over the holidays. You know how much i would have liked to have been with you. The stamps came a little late for the holidays but that doesn't matter, i didn't starve and i can still use them now, even for the 20 rm. Thank you very much. Karl wrote to me from schönburg, he is very depressed, i don't understand him [he writes that he is glad that the holidays are over]. Date: 18 April 1944.
