iconographic description:
in the chamber of deputies, dupin, leaning on the platform on the left, pronounces the sentence contained in the title in front of the assembly of deputies seated in the background. Some, panicked, gesticulate in all directions. The large figure seated in the center appears to be lobau (?). The pl. Refers to mirabeau's apocryphal phrase "we are here by the will of the people and we will only get out by the force of bayonets" (june 23, 1789), modifies and diverts it to denounce the policy pursued by the july government, which, according to the pl. , flouts republican principles and denies the popular will. Reference to “cooked apples” and “fresh eggs” not clarified. Person / character represented:
dupin, andré marie jean-jacques (known as dupin elder)
