Design for the frontispiece to joshua kirby's 'the perspective of architecture' (1761); landscape, with river, domed temple to right and city at centre; in the foreground left, the upper part of a column, its shape suggestive of roman fasces and its capital bearing emblems of the prince of wales, and behind it a sheet of paper with geometrical figures; at centre, a cupid seated on the ground beside a compass, a book on his knees inscribed "andrea paladio", lifting a finger to a ray of light from the setting sun, which illuminates the paper.
