historical commentary:
built from 1786 to 1790 by victor louis, the french theater opened its doors in 1799. Redesigned in 1822 by fontaine, it was enlarged in 1863 by chabrol (construction of the facade on the place du palais-royal). Fired on march 8, 1900, it opened again in december. The presence of the republican guard may be justified by a particular event organized at the french theater
