Portrait of general francisco javier castaños, duke of bailén and first president of the estate of próceres. In 1808 he defeated the french in the battle of bailén and between 1810 and 1813 he was president of the regency council of spain not occupied by the french and, later, between 1832 and 1834 he was president of the council of castile.
