view of the side elevation of the catafalque designed by brenna for the burial of catherine the great of russia and her husband tsar peter iii (died 1762) held in the cathedral of saint peter and paul in november 1796. Inscribed at bottom of the sheet in pen and brown ink, by the architect: "veduta di fianco del gran catafalco eretto della chiesa di s. Pietro, nella fortezza a pietroburgo, per le solenni essequie (?) di caterina seconda e pietro terso / inventato ed eseguito, con molto di pezzo del piero e sontuoso lugubre apparato di volta (?) la chiesa da v.
