Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-03-26) letter no. 236 (1944-03-30) next letter (1944-04-10) envelope: front back text blankenburg d. 30. Iii. 44. My beloved mum! this time too i want to send you my warmest greetings. But above all i thank you for the lovely easter parcel of cakes, eggs and cigarettes. You must miss the eggs. Everything tasted great; the cigarettes are now being divided up and are still tasty. Today the post from my dear mum brought me the stationery; you have, how could it be otherwise, hit the nail on the head. Thank you very much for that too. How are you, my mum, are you well? do you have to work a lot? please don’t overexert yourself and take care of yourself. You can put your worries about me to rest for a while now, you have to look after yourself a little. When i come home again i want to see the person i love most in the world fresh and healthy. I can only say the best for you. I'm doing great, touch wood. Very easy and interesting service. Today, for example, was particularly nice. In the morning we did a bit of radioing. Then we went out of the barracks into the beautiful surroundings of blankenburg [apostrophe of stupidity] with our equipment. We lay in the sun [and said ti ta ti ti, that was all. ]. Date: 30 March 1944.
