Music sheet cover for 'Ten Little Niggers', Alfred Concanen

Music sheet cover for 'ten little niggers', composed by mark mason and frank green, sung by g. W. Moore, published by hopwood & crew, ca. 19th century. This song was adapted by frank green from the nursery rhyme 'ten little indians' and was used in blackface minstrel shows, for example, by christy's minstrels. The term "nigger" has been used to describe people of black (sub-saharan) african heritage. From the 1800s it has carried strong derogatory intent. The term is repeated in this record in its original historical context. Date: ca. 19th century.
