The king and his family are looking at the painting "arrival of king otto in nauplia" by peter von heß. Next to the king are crown prince maximilian in uniform and the later prince regent luitpold. In front of the king sits queen therese, surrounded by the four youngest children: on the arm of the queen is princess alexandra and prince adalbert. He is later considered as otto's temporary successor in greece. To the right of them, directly in front of the painting, stand princesses adelgunde and hildegard. Sitting on the far left is princess mathilde karoline, and on the far left is prince carl, the younger brother of king ludwig and field marshal of the bavarian army. Carl had been offered the candidacy for the greek throne before otto, but he had declined. In the painting being viewed, otto of greece and the members of his regency can be seen in front of the silhouette of nauplia with the fortress of palamides. Date: circa 1833.
