Decor of doctor vaquez's library. This large panel represents three women in the privacy of a modern interior. One of them, sitting on a sofa, seems to be reading a newspaper, a few sheets of which are scattered near her. Placed at his feet, an album of prints is open on a color plate. Near the reader, books are stacked on an armchair and a few flowers are arranged in a high-necked vase placed on a tripod. Two other women face each other in a doorway on the right. Cushions litter the floor covered with various rugs. The flowers on the wallpaper that adorns the back wall evoke the “thousand-flower” tapestries of the late middle ages.
