Walks and Public Gardens. Parisian Studies by Valentin, Henry Valentin, 23 September 1850

This print shows examples of public gardens in paris, and of the social types that were associated with them. The two women in the tuileries gardens seem to be from the upper classes. The asnières print represents lower classes; the spitting woman may be a courtesan. The boulevard couple is from the lower bourgeoisie. The scene at château rouge could represent a young courtesan, the tall woman next to her being the procurer. Date: 23 September 1850. Dimensions: height: 32 cm (12.5 in); width: 23 cm (9 in). Medium: engraving. Collection: Brown University Library. Promenades et Jardins publics 2. Études parisiennes par Valentin
