Laura Konia, daguerreotype

Laura kōnia (c. 1808–1857) was a member of the hawaiian royal family. She was grandaughter of king kamehameha i, and mother of bernice pauahi bishop, the founder of kamehameha schools. Probably taken during her last years of life when she was suffering from many illnesses and eventually died of influenza. This daguerreotype recently sold for $9,775. Date: before 1857, late 1850s.
