1st battle of samalanga 26 aug 1877. Major general vd heyden returns to his troops after being treated for a shot in the eye. This earned him the nickname general one-eye. Fischer, assisted by a javanese officer boy. A little further on, van der heijden is on horseback and lieutenant colonel meijer rushes towards him.
