Prometheus Unbound, Constantin Hansen, circa 1850

The vestibule of the historic main building of the university of copenhagen (1844-53) features a prometheus cycle by constantin hansen. This fresco, to the right of the central fresco, depicts heracles releasing prometheus. The frames and other wall decorations are by georg hilker (1807-1875). Date: circa 1850.
