A german observation tree
image: ruined farm buildings lie to the left and right either side of a tree which stands in the centre of the composition. The tree has ladders against the trunk, leading up to a small wooden platform used by german forces for observation. A wheeled carriage with a team of horses and several british soldiers stands before the tree. Date: 1917 (First World War).
