The scene takes place in an interior where little light enters from round windows at the back. The shades are dark, the tones misty with strong shadows. According to garuti, the large dimensions of the painting and the subject itself could place it in a convent refectory, that of the church of san francesco d'assisi in mirandola. The stylistic characteristics, centered on a color with strong chiaroscuro and misty transitions with sudden flashes of light, allow the attribution of the painting to a venetian environment, towards the manner of sante peranda, also due to the evident mannerism. Date: between 1605 and 1615.
