Ellen maria smidth (later known as eline heger) (1774-1842) was a leading actress at the royal theater of copenhagen. Her role in johan samsøe's dyveke, et sørgespil in 1796 created a sensation and was widely acclaimed. She married the actor stephan heger and went on to play numerous leading parts until 1832.
