Painting of the battle of miahuatlán, fought on october 3, 1866 during the second franco-mexican war between french forces of the second mexican empire and mexican republican forces under general porfirio díaz, who emerged victorious. He is depicted in the central portion of the canvas, riding a white horse in front of the lancers of puebla, one of the two veteran forces responsible for the victory, according to official versions of the story. This piece was created by mexican painter francisco de paula mendoza in 1906, and it is currently housed in the national museum of history in chapultepec castle, mexico city. Genre: battle painting.
