Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1941-06-22) letter no. 21 (1941-06-27) next letter (1941-06-30) envelope: front back text [set foot on russian soil for the first time]. Saw russian prisoners for the first time. Lots of chinese, kirghiz and stuff like that. They'll never win against german soldiers. I'm now about 150 km into russia. There's not much to see of the war. Not much resistance was offered. The guns are still roaring in the distance. I'm lying in my tent now and writing - thinking a lot about you and how you must be worried. I'm fine and healthy and happy. So there's no reason to worry. Unfortunately i've only had a card from you. The mail won't come until later. So once again, warm greetings and lots of kisses from your hansl. Sieg heil! Date: 27 June 1941.
