Marble Statue over Memorial Well, Cawnpore

Cawnpore (now known as kanpur) was the site of brutal fighting in the indian rebellion of 1857. During the fighting, about 200 british subjects, mostly women and children, were massacred here, their bodies dumped into the well. The statue, titled angel of the resurrection, is made of white marble and was designed by carlo marochetti. Collection: Knox College.
