Ebersberg St. Sebastian 13

Ebersberg St. Sebastian 13

Ten wall frescoes from 1751/52 have been preserved in the choir. They are attributed to the circle of johann baptist zimmermann and survived the great fire of 1781. Together, as a cycle, they depict st. Sebastian as a miracle worker and helper in all times of need, and thus refer to the important sebastian pilgrimage in ebersberg. Here no. W 10: "a refuge for humanity" - st. Sebastian and his monastery (left in the picture) as a place of refuge. Numbering and further information according to: brigitte sauerländer, cordula böhm et al. : corpus der barocken deckenmalerei in deutschland, volume 11, munich 2005, pp. 300-330.
