One of four artist cards from series iv by heinrich mittag, which was designed up until 1898 and, according to reiner meyer, is "one of mittag's best visual inventions in this advertising medium". The company founder hermann bahlsen commissioned the graphic artist for this early form of advertising for his hanover cakes factory. The "dessert waffle" was still advertised under the abbreviation hcf, which was deliberately offered to upper-class travelers at train stations across europe. In addition to the artist's signature "hm", the edler & krische printing company from hanover used its good name to advertise its multi-color printing. Date: before 1898.
