Virgin of the passion (panagía tou páthous) late 16th-early 17th century, 66. 5x83. 3cm. Emmanuel tzanfournaris "m(iti)r th(eo)y, i(esou)c christoc" the icon shows the virgin mary up to the waist holding christ with her left hand. Christ leans towards her and rests with both hands on his mother's right hand, while at the same time he turns his head and looks back and up at the angel who is depicted half-length and carries the cross of his passion. Another angel with the lance and the cup is also represented half-length on the other side. Object Type: icon, painting. Genre: religious art. Date: between 1585 and 1630.
