"m(iti)r th(eo)y, i(esou)c christoc" the icon shows the virgin mary up to the waist holding christ with her left hand. Christ leans towards her and rests with both hands on his mother's right hand, while at the same time he turns his head and looks back and up at the angel who is depicted half-length and carries the cross of his passion.
