A burlesque representation of the duel between william adam and c. J. Fox on 29 nov. 1779. Adam (right) dressed as a highland chieftain, in tartan, with a very short kilt, a target on his left arm, fires a pistol at fox, who holds out both his arms and leans back as if wounded, his pistol falling to the ground. Fox has a fox's head and a brush. Adam's second, a fat man (humberston), stands full face with clasped hands, not watching the contest.
