A 1918 watercolour painting titled to the memory of our hero comrade 'murphy' (simpson) killed may 1915. Heroes of the red cross. Private simpson, d. C. M. , & his donkey at anzac, depicting a medic and his donkey helping an injured man back to base at gallipoli. Despite the title, this was actually based on a photo of the medic lt. Richard henderson (1895-1958), who took up the role after simpson was killed. [1] printed in england and published by w. J. Bryce, 24a regent street, london, s. W. 1. 1918. Date: 1918.
