Skeffington skips forward (left to right); his sharp-featured profile emerges, grinning, from a sharp-pointed collar and swathed cravat. His hair is swept forward in careful disarray, which, with his heavy whisker, goes ill with the black bag which flies outwards. His dress is a curious hybrid of embroidered court dress and knee-breeches, with the recent fashions of gathered sleeves ('jean de bry', see bmsat 9425), bulky neck-cloth, and cut-away tails showing bunches of seals.
