Studio of joseph wright of derby, a. R. A. (derby 1734–1797) portrait of miss maria boothby (1758–1805), daughter of sir brooke boothby, 5th bt. (1710–1789) oil on canvas 76. 7 x 64 cm.;30¼ x 25¼ in. This painting is thought to be an early copy after a lost original by joseph wright of derby. It is possible to venture that it may have been painted by one of wright's studio assistants, such as james rawlinson (c. 1769–1848). The property of sir brooke boothby, 15th bt. , removed from fonmon castle, glamorgan. Date: 18th century.
