Phoebus is seated on a chair with esmeralda on his lap. Phoebus de châteaupers is captain of the guard and wants to seduce esmeralda. He is already engaged to fleur-de-lys who is very jealous of the beautiful gypsy. Esmeralda will be wrongly accused of having killed phoebus and will be hanged. He will marry his fiancée.
