rené didier and alice lody in the roles of phoebus and esmeralda for the performance of "notre-dame de paris" (published in 1831) at the théâtre des nations, june 7, 1879. Phoebus is seated on a chair with esmeralda on his lap. Phoebus de châteaupers is captain of the guard and wants to seduce esmeralda. He is already engaged to fleur-de-lys who is very jealous of the beautiful gypsy. Esmeralda will be wrongly accused of having killed phoebus and will be hanged. He will marry his fiancée.
