The picture illustrates a scene from the "story of prince kamar es-saman". Two winged ifrits, demonic mythical creatures from the arab world, namely the genie maimune, daughter of a king of the genie, and dahnasch, an ifrit who flew in from a chinese island, are arguing fiercely about who is the most beautiful human child they have ever seen. Maimune thinks it is prince kamar es-saman, the son of king shariman, whom his father has just thrown into prison wearing only a thin shirt and a silk scarf over his face because the prince refuses to marry him. Dahnasch, on the other hand, raves about princess budur, the daughter of king el-ghajur from the land of china. In order to be able to compare the beauty of the two people, the ifrit has brought the fast sleeping princess on his mighty wings and laid her next to the king's son, who is also sleeping. However, the two ifrites do not agree in their judgment and so it is decided to wake the children of men one after the other to see who burns with greater love for the other. First they wake kamar es-saman. The image corresponds to the following passage on page 204: “at this he was seized with deep astonishment; he quickly sat up, looked sideways to see what was there and behold: it was a maiden like a precious pearl, slender and five spans tall. When he then caught sight of lady budur and noticed that she was sleeping next to him without trousers, dressed only in a venetian shirt, in all her glorious grace, he was inflamed with sensual desire, as nature intended, and god filled his heart with burning longing. So he turned to her and unfastened the neck of her shirt, so that he revealed her body and her breasts, and the fire of love and sensual desire grew even greater. ". Date: 1913. FvB-AN-204
