The date on the work is 1850 - cox was living in birmingham at the time but each year from 1844 until 1856 he would make a summer trip to betws-y-coed in north wales. He would have had to pass through the town of shrewsbury each time as it is directly en-route to betws-y-coed and its likely he used the town as a nightly stopover on the journey. Date: 1850.
