Miniature illustrating the three temptations of christ in the desert at the end of his forty days of fasting: the temptation to transform the stone handed to him by the demon into bread, the temptation to throw himself from the top of the peak where he is perched so that the angels carry him to the earth and finally the temptation to discover all the kingdoms of the world, represented by castles, cities, fertile fields and trading boats and the demon's offer to give them to him. Everything is encompassed in the imposing castle of mehun-sur-yèvre, property of the duke of berry. Date: between 1411 and 1416. Dimensions: height: 29 cm (11.4 in); width: 21 cm (8.2 in).
