Amsterdam Orphan Girls (study), Max Liebermann, 1876

In 1876, one year after his first visit to holland, max liebermann set up a studio in the municipal orphanage in amsterdam. He was fascinated by the bright, clear colors of the orphan girls' uniforms. He depicted them in several paintings. This is one of several preliminary studies that preceded the famous "free hour" in the städel museum in frankfurt. Object Type: painting. Date: 1876.
