This work, which is placed in the sacristy of the chalices of the cathedral of seville, (spain), is currently attributed by most historians to the painter alonso vázquez. This painter from malaga settled in seville between 1588 and 1603, where he cultivated the mannerist style, and this work was commissioned by beatriz pérez to occupy the center of the altarpiece that he had in the convent of santa maría de jesús in seville, although it later passed into the hands of dean lópez cepero, whose descendants donated it to the seville cathedral.
