Hidden by two tall hayricks at left, a soldier and a milkmaid engaged in intercourse, he lying down, she kneeling and facing away from him, her milk-pail on the ground; the shocked farmer emerging with his pitchfork from behind the hayricks; faint outline of the farm behind at right.
