Charles de graimberg from heidelberg, painted in 1902 by guido philipp schmitt. Charles de graimberg himself lived in heidelberg castle from 1811 to 1823 and knew both the surroundings and the spatial details of the then ruins very well. From 1830, when grand duke leopold took office, his efforts to protect the monument were politically recognized and financially supported from then on.
