The "pomerantzen-hauß" was designed in 1685 by johann arnold nering and built by the architect of the electoral city palace, michael matthias smidts. The view of the ensemble of orangery, palace, the planned "new town" and the medieval "old town" is from the banks of the havel. Under frederick william i, the orangery was converted into a stable.
