[New River Head, Islington], Isaac Cruikshank, 1796

Plate 10 to 'eccentric excursions, or. Literary & pictorial sketches of countenance, character and country, in. . England & south wales'. Design in an oval. 'cits' fish in a small piece of water bordered by a fence with a high railing on the left, beyond which is a road flanked by a high wall. Across the water (right) is a house with a high-pitched roof. Five men, three of whom are smoking, fish in the foreground in close proximity, two others on the farther side; an eighth (left) approaches carrying his rod. This appears to be the extreme north corner of the reservoir, where it is narrowest. 13 august 1796. Etching. Date: 1796. Dimensions: Height: 183 mm; Width: 247 mm (trimmed). Medium: paper.
