Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1941-06-19) letter no. 18 (1941-06-21) next letter (1941-06-22) envelope: front back text poland, 21 june 1941 dear parents! sending you many greetings from here. I'm still doing well. I'm leading a real soldier's life now. We sleep in tents in the woods. The food is good and plentiful. Only marching on the polish roads is disastrous. You have no idea what the conditions are like. Just sand and dust and dirt. Despite this, the mood here is very good. Now i'm standing here in the woods next to a combat vehicle and writing. We've turned on the radio and are listening to music from germany. Yesterday as we advanced an officer took pictures of us; when they're ready i'll send you some. Date: 21 June 1941.
