charles philippe lafont (1781-1839) is a composer and violinist. His classical style, trained in the viotti technique, made him one of the french violin virtuosos of the 19th century. He left france in 1792 and went on tour in europe. He played in the chamber orchestra of tsar alexander i, and on his return to france in 1815, he became concertmaster of the chamber orchestra of louis xviii.
