The judgment of cambyses, part 2, half of a diptych by gerard david, painted in 1498 on oak panels. A pair of large paintings, 182 x 159 cm each. Commissioned for the alderman's room in the bruges city hall. Now in the collection of the groeningemuseum in bruges. The panels depict the story of the persian judge sisamnes, who was punished for corruption by being flayed alive. It was intended to remind the aldermen of the need to remain uncorrupted.
