In the summer of 2013, the viennese tram lines through währinger straße were rerouted due to track construction: line 37 ran from hohe warte to antonigasse, line 38 from grinzing past währinger straße/spitalgasse to zimmermannplatz, line 40 from herbeckstraße to liechtenwerder platz, and line 41 from pötzleinsdorf past liechtenwerder platz to augasse. Line 42 did not run at all.
